Festivities for Carnival CusqueÃ±o 2011 "will be held from February 24 to March 13

The Municipal Corporation of Cusco Festivities (EMUFEC), during carnival celebrations this year, coordinated with the City of Cusco and its various managements the realization of "Carnival CusqueÃ±o 2011", whose program will consist of various activities which have as the closing finale carnival for Sunday March 13th at the Plaza de Armas of Cusco.

The carnival program is labeled "Dance, colors and flavors of my country" and will start on February 24 with the aid of allegories alluding to the "Compadres" and on 3 March, the contest for "The Wives" with special prizes for the winners in various categories, provided by EMUFEC and the Regional Bureau of Culture.

Launch Campaign "Puts South" to promote Cuzco, Arequipa, Puno and Madre de Dios

PromperÃº Thursday launched the campaign "puts South", which hopes to mobilize 20,000 tourists to the regions of Arequipa, Cusco, Puno and Madre de Dios, a campaign that began Feb. 15 and will run until 31 March, it coincides with the period of carnival, for it will be discounts of up to 40% on airfare, ground transportation 15%, 30% in restaurants and up to 77% in some hotels.

With this initiative PromperÃº, hopes the initiative will generate an economic movement of 16 million soles. PromperÃº Ladirectora of Tourism, Rocio Merino, explained that in the campaign involved 118 companies and 90% of them are from the provinces, who joined after coordinating with the regional government authorities.

The Regional Director of Culture Cusco architect Juan Julio Garcia Rivas, said that the colonial churches are in the process of intervention by the specialists of cultural agency, are Urcos Apostle Santiago, Virgen de las Nieves Sangare, St. James Chapel of Pircca, Temple of Santa Ana-Cusco, Hurinsaya temple, San Juan Bautista de Ccatca.

ARGENTINA AND CHILE UNITE TO ATTRACT TOURISTS FROM ASIA

Tourism ministers of the countries of Argentina and Chile agreed to launch a joint work program to attract tourists from Australia, South Africa, China and the Middle East, among others.

The agreement was reached during the Third Binational Meeting of Ministers held in Santiago de Chile last week and was reported in a statement the Ministry of Tourism.

Embratur, the Brazilian Institute of Tourism, resumed promotional roadshow called Brazil Sensational in Portugal, an event aimed at operators and the tourist trade this year precedes the BTL, the International Tourism Fair of Lisbon. Will be held on 21 and 22 February in the cities of Oporto and Lisbon, respectively.

Already beginning Fiesta de la Candelaria in Puno

Already started the festival in honor of the Virgen de la Candelaria, the patron saint of the city of Puno, Peru, it represents the largest and most important cultural expression, music and dance of Peru. This year will feature more than 45 000 dancers, grouped in 77 sets.
